Setting Up New Product

Product Master Screen

The easiest way to setup a new product is to clone an existing one.

  1. Press the F8 key to execute the query.
  2. Press the PageUp/PageDown keys to view the results.
  3. When you find an existing product that closely matches the new one.
    1. Press the [Clone] button to duplicate the existing record.
    2. Replace the text in the Product Code field with the new code.
    3. Change any of the other fields as required. Make sure all fields are correct as you will not be able to change anything later.
    4. Press the [Commit] button to save the new product.


Now that the product details have been entered you must link the product to an establishment. To do this you must go to FM149 the Product Cross Reference Establishment form.

Activating Product

To activate a product record first make sure that all fields have been updated according to the requirements. The rules for the product are listed below.

Once all fields have been filled in correctly set the Product Status field to 'Active' and press the [Commit] button to save the changes.

Product Setup Rules

When setting up the products the following fields need to be updated:

  • Configuration
Either F=Fixed Weight, P=Variable Pallet Level, C=Variable Carton Level. This relates to processing movements and the requirements to enter the weights for the cartons or pallets.
  • Market Type
Press the F9 key to list the markets, usually set to the string 'AU', but can have multiple market types. This relates to the market type on orders so only the product with the same market type can be put on a despatch order with the same market type.
  • Compatibility
Press the F9 key to list the compatibilities. Used to test the compatibility between products and locations.
  • Group Code
Press the F9 key to list the product groups, must be entered.
  • PZH Code
Press the F9 key to list the zones. Used for the putaway processing, relates to the preference for putaway into locations.
  • Receipt Temperature
Either 'C'hilled or 'F'rozen or 'A'mbient. The temperature of the product when it is received.
  • Storage Temperature
Either 'C'hilled or 'F'rozen or 'A'mbient. The temperature of the product when storing it.
  • Change Temperature
A valid number to specify the number of days before we move this product from the Receipt Temperature locations to the Storage Temperature locations.
  • Days From
Either R=Receipt, M=Manufacture, U=Useby. Used when calculating the number of days before we can move the stock from the receipt temperature to the storage temperature.
  • Days to Freeze
Valid number to specify the number of days required to freeze this product.
  • Days to Thaw
Valid number to specify the number of days required to thaw this product before moving from a frozen to a chilled location.
  • Receipt Status
Press the F9 key to list the dispositions. This field means that this product is awaiting clearance from the Client for some condition.
  • Quarantine For
Not Used
  • Product Life
Number of days after the manufacture date before the product will expire. (0= No Expiry).
  • Minimum Receipt Life
Stock must have at least this number of days left when receipting. (0= No Check).
  • Medium Shelf Life
Number of days before the useby date when the product is to be reported as almost low life.
  • Low Shelf Life
Number of days before the useby date when the product is to be reported as low life.
  • Minimum Shelf Life
Number of days before the useby date when the product cannot be shipped.
  • Rotadate Type
Either U=Useby Date, B=Best-Before Date, M=Manufacture Date, R=Receipt Date. Used to identify how to calculate the rotation date for the received stock.
  • Track By Rota
Either Single Date per Pallet, Mixed Dates per Pallet or Itemized Mixed Dates for rotation date tracking.
  • Track By Batch
Either 'Y'es or 'N'o or 'M'aster. Used for tracking the products by the batch or lot number.
  • Pick To Clear
Either 'R'otadate Only or 'B'atch and Rotdate or 'N'o. This is used for the products that need to be cleared completely from the pickface before the pickface can be replenished again.
  • Track by Serial No
Either 'Y'es or 'N'o. Should this product be stored and picked by Serial Numbers.
  • Pallet Pick %
Skip the pickface if picking more then the percentage of the pallet (-1 is not set and 0 is disabled.)
  • Reserve Stock
Reserve Stock (Never or In Full or Avail Qty).
  • Notes

  • In Config ID
This is the default product configuration id for the receivals.
  • Out Config ID
This is the default product configuration id for the deliveries.
  • Receipt Unit
This is the default package level number of the receival unit description.
  • Order Unit
This is the default package level number of the order unit description.
  • SK Unit
This is the default package level number of the store keepers unit description.
  • EDI Unit
This is the pack level the interfaced quantity is sent/received in.
  • Pallet Type
Product Stored on Special Pallet Type. Values are: Chep FB2, Chep CB7, Ceva Bin or TNT Pallecon.
  • Under Wgt Tol%
This is the Under Weight Tolerance, 0-100% (for variable weight products). Percentage that this product can be overweight when the radio operator is reporting the weight of item.
  • Over Wgt Tol%
This is the Over Weight Tolerance, 0-100% (for variable weight products). Percentage that this product can be underweight when the radio operator is reporting the weight of item.
  • Factor Verified
Has the factors been verified (Yes, No or Locked).
  • Weight Verified
Has the weight been verified (Yes, No or Locked).
  • LxWxH Verified
Has the length, width and height been verified (Yes, No or Locked).

At what quantity is the stock level low? (carton quantity).
  • Cycle Count
A valid number of days or months used for the cycle count for this product for every X units. Not used.
  • Last Count
A valid date when the product will next be counted.
  • Volatility
Either Fast, Medium or Slow.
  • Price $
Dollar price of product.
  • Price Per
The pack level for pricing.


History Button

Master Changes Screen
  • Press the [History] button to view Master Changes Screen.
This screen show all the changes made for the current product.
